Within this new project “Splitting Cells”, I began investigating the intersections of memory and nostalgia within culturally iconic “polaroids” and family photos.

This body of work addresses beauty, but also violence. Lumen prints enable a process of romanticizing harshness and death through heat and light. In the name of beauty, desire, and will, I subjected myself to this experience

Nostalgia is a phenomenon that both does good, as well as bad. We are left with little memory of our traumas, but also a longing desire for a dishonest decaying past.
